Our thoughts and sympathy are with all those affected by this tragedy
The NZILA stands with the whole country in shock and deep sadness at the events on Friday afternoon in Christchurch.
Our thoughts and sympathy are with all those affected by this tragedy.
NZILA Canterbury Chair Louise Bailey says her city is in absolute shock that this could happen in our peaceful and tolerant country.
“Our thoughts are with our Muslim colleagues and LA students, as well as all those impacted by Friday’s events. Now the reality that we have to face is that New Zealand is no longer immune to terrorism.”
NZILA President Brad Coombs says it is important to acknowledge and support all of the people that have been affected so deeply by this tragedy.
‘We know Christchurch will return to the place of aroha it has been. Aotearoa’s values of diversity, inclusion and compassion are reflected in the ethos of the NZILA. At this time we must all unite,” he says.
