June 27, 8:30am-9:30am
We are delighted to share that Carey Duncan will be the guest speaker for the June Streetscape Webinar series. Carey will be hosted by Dr Bruno Marques, Associate Dean for the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovaton at Victoria University, and current IFLA President.
For those not already familiar with her work, Carey Duncan is South African but has lived and worked as a Landscape Architect in Morocco for the past 30+ years. She is a founding member of the Moroccan national association of landscape architects (AAPM), a member of ILASA in South Africa, and an international member of ASLA. Her portfolio, which includes projects on 3 continents, illustrates a wide variety of typologies and challenge. Carey believes that diversity of opportunity is one of the advantages of working in the developing world where landscape architects are a rare species!
She is the immediate past president of IFLA Africa and continues to serve on its executive committee as an ex-officio member. She is on several IFLA World working groups and enjoys the stimulation of collaboration across continents. She was awarded the IFLA President’s Award in 2023.
Carey's discussion topic will focus on regional identity, beauty, and the ethics of planting in arid regions.
